OUR HISTORY
Originally known as Kershaws, the practice first began offering eyecare on Market Street. We went on to become Jackson Opticians in the late 60s.
The practice moved to a new home on 64 Standishgate 10 years later. In the early 80s, we moved to number 60, a larger premises which included a glazing lab. The introduction of remote edging meant the lab was no longer necessary and the practice moved to our current location, 44 Standishgate, in 2016.

Gordon
Nicola Brown - Optometrist
Nicola is our resident Optometrist and has been at Jacksons since 2004. Nicola is a keen gardener, with a passion for interior design, Nicola has enjoyed completely renovating her cottage.
Lynn O'Loughlin - Senior Receptionist
Lynn has been with us since 1995, and is the engine room of the practice - we would be lost without her! Part of the notorious O'Loughlin Wigan rugby clan, Lynn spends much of her time driving her son and daughter around the country to play various sports. Until recently she was also a team manager at Shevington Sharks RL Club.
Gemma Flynn - Optical Assistant
A crazy cat woman with a talent for I.T., Gemma joined us in 2018. As well as managing the social media for the practice, she also runs her own online business. Somewhat out of character, she also loves the adrenaline thrills of rollercoasters and travelling to America to the biggest theme parks.
David Stanley - Dispensing Manager
David started here in 1986 and trained to become a dispensing optician. He qualified in 1991 and has been Manager since 1995. Certainly not a thrill seeker, David prefers to relax crown green bowling, birdwatching, or just heading to the coast with his beloved Schnauzer, Mr Rigby.
Gordon Carlton - Locum Optometrist
Gordon is a long-standing member of our team. Beginning his career here in 1982 as a locum, he became full-time in 1983. These days, Gordon is only in practice on Wednesdays.
